Bigger Looking Spaces with Floor and Wall Tiles
Tiling & Flooring in Norfolk Norfolk & Parts of Suffolk!

Small spaces are difficult to decorate. Not only that but it can be challenging aesthetically, often looking cluttered and overcrowded. The trouble is, extending this space is costly and impractical, so why try to change the size of the space when you can create the illusion that a room is bigger - for a FRACTION of the cost!
This blog post was created with the intention of demonstrating how a choice in tiling can completely alter the definition of your home.
As a general rule of thumb, the larger the tile, the bigger the space. Large tiles often make a room look and feel more spacious, however this often only true if the finishing is to a high quality. If there are lots of cuts and trims to the tiles, with the wrong selection with regards to colour of grout, it's possible to swap to the room. The goal is to ensure that each material selected complements the shape, style and size of your room nicely, so let's take consideration to some other options...
Smaller tiles, when shaped and selected correctly, uniquely present a fun alternative to your small room. Avoid tiny tiles with mosaic patterns in small rooms as this can result in a busy bathroom that appears overcrowded. Luckily, tiles in shapes such as Hexagons (again, with the correct selection of grout), can create the illusion of a spacious, stunning space.
Shape is an incredibly important factor to consider in choosing the right tiles for your home. We've briefly covered hexagonal tiles, but what other solutions provide optimal results? A diamond shaped tile for instance will present extremely well in comparison to a checkered pattern. One key piece of advice would be to select a shape that doesn't conform to the typical squareness of your average tile, to showcase your "newly expanded room" (wink, wink).
Ok so now we've covered shape and size, but what about colours and realistically, does this make a difference? The trick is to ensure that you're focusing on brighter colours - with white being the winner! White reflects light extremely well, whilst black absorbs. With this in mind, creating a more spacious and airy atmosphere can be achieved by sticking to more pastel colours, allowing your home to radiate light.
Additional tricks include lighting and mirrors. These are two components often considered in the world of photography as it is crucial in creating a larger looking environment. By paying particular attention to lighting, bouncing light from your floor and walls, you begin to create a secret, spacious sanctuary.
